The heritage of Morris & Co. dates back to 1861 when William Morris co-founded Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Company, designing and manufacturing, amongst other things, stained glass, metalwork, furniture, carpets, wallpapers and fabrics.
Inspired by his love of mediaeval art and design and influenced by natural forms, Morris set out to revive the traditions of craftsmanship.
In 1875 William Morris re-launched the business as Morris & Co. His ambition was to improve standards of interior design, selling interior products for the whole home.
Until his death in 1896 Morris & Co. flourished and was the height of fashion in Victorian Britain. Following his death the business declined and in 1940 Morris & Co. was bought by Sanderson.
